what we use

DJI Inspire 1 This is the primary UAV used for all real estate work due to its capabilities for complex camera movements. A 2-person operation configuration with a pilot and camera operator provides freedom to achieve cinematic shots unlike entry level UAV's on the market.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is it illegal for me to go buy a "drone" and film my own homes and create a video or photos to sell the home?
    • Answer: Yes. The FAA states clearly that any use of a UAV for commercial purposes is illegal.
  • If I'm caught flying my drone for compensation or for selling a home, what will happen?
    • Answer: You could be subject to fines of up to $10,000.
  • Could I get my insurance to cover my drone flights?
    • Answer: If you are flying a drone or Snaproll is not providing the aerial service(s), an insurance company will not cover activity deemed "illegal" by FAA standards.
  • As long as I abide by the regulations of UAV flight, shouldn't I be able to use a drone to help sell my homes?
    • Answer: No. Refer to the first question/answer above. Regardless of the regulations applicable to "hobbyist drone pilots," any type of compensation directly or indirectly related to the use of the UAV is deemed illegal.
  • Just so I know, what are the laws for hobbyist use or recreational flying?
    • Answer:
      • Fly below 400 feet and remain clear of surrounding obstacles
      • Keep the aircraft within visual line of sight at all times
      • Remain well clear of and do not interfere with manned aircraft operations
      • Don't fly within 5 miles of an airport unless you contact the airport and control tower before flying
      • Fly only over private (with permission) or specially designated property
